Have You Experienced a Traumatic Event That Is Still Impacting Your Life?

  • Are you feeling disconnected from people, even the ones closest to you?

  • Do anxious feelings often make it difficult for you to relax?

  • Are you unable to find any real pleasure in your life?

Perhaps you would like to feel closer to people, but instead, you feel detached, isolated, and alone. After your traumatic experience, nothing seems right anymore—close relationships have become strained or just require too much energy that you don’t have.

You feel exhausted and numb much of the time. It’s difficult to concentrate on work or other important things. You just can’t seem to focus. And all of that makes you feel irritated, hopeless, and tired of constantly being on edge.

Many Different Types of Events Can Cause Trauma

a checklist page

When I talk with new clients, numerous questions come up about trauma. Many are unsure if they have experienced trauma or perhaps have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Trauma has many faces. It can be experiencing just one traumatic event, or it can be something that happens repeatedly over a period of time. Moreover, it often affects both those who are directly exposed to the traumatic event and also those who witness the incident.

I find that the majority of people believe that trauma has to be the “Big T trauma” type, such as:

  • War, combat, terrorism

  • Physical and sexual abuse or assault

  • Natural disasters, catastrophic/auto accidents

  • Violence/crime of any type (domestic, family, spousal, community)

  • Unexpected death of a loved one

And, indeed, these kinds of experiences can have a profound effect on your life. However, more common events can also be traumatic. This is known as “Small t trauma” and may include:

  • Growing up in a turbulent family

  • Being bullied or experiencing public or social humiliation

  • Enduring emotional abuse, neglect, or abandonment

  • Being diagnosed with a chronic health condition

Trauma occurs when you experience any event that leaves you feeling helpless and unable to control or escape the situation. In time, it can undermine your ability to concentrate, remember, form relationships, and trust others.

If you feel as though you have lost control because of a traumatic event, please be assured that it’s possible to regain that control. I want to help you. With my support, therapy can be a way to lock the door on trauma and move forward.

Surviving a Traumatic Event Makes Everything Look Different – But You’re Not Alone

Approximately 70% of adults in the U.S. have experienced a traumatic event in their lives. Trauma knows no boundaries—it affects people of all ages, genders, backgrounds, races, ethnicities, and sexual orientations.

The impact of trauma can be long-lasting, shaping how a person views the world. It's like wearing glasses with colored lenses—everything seems a little off, from thoughts and feelings to behaviors. And yet, many don’t realize it’s trauma that distorts their perspective.

Addressing trauma is an important part of effective mental and emotional health care and an integral part of the recovery process. However, many trauma survivors are reluctant to seek help from a therapist or counselor.

The Fear of Having to Relive the Trauma in Therapy to Heal

Reaching out for help may feel overwhelming. Perhaps you've tried counseling before and found it unhelpful. Or maybe the thought of discussing the trauma feels unbearable—you wonder why you would want to revisit such a miserable experience.

I understand where you’re coming from. And I promise you, you won’t have to relive the details or go through the experience again. In fact, that is exactly what I don’t want you to do.

But the pain you feel is real! And seeking counseling is crucial for healing that pain, whether your trauma was caused by a recent experience or one that took place long ago.

Trauma Therapy Can Help You Feel Like You Again

2 butterflies back to back

Trauma is not part of you. It is something that happened to you. I recognize the strength and resilience you possess because you got through the hard part all on your own. You survived it!

Now, all that’s left to do is the easy part—clearing your mind of the pain, once and for all. And I specialize in exactly that: helping you heal from trauma so that you can finally leave it in the past and move forward with your life.

Through trauma therapy, you can free your mind from the persistent, haunting thoughts, emotional responses, and behaviors that have been weighing you down. You’ll come to understand that while trauma is something that happened to you, it doesn’t define who you are!

Because trauma often stirs up feelings of anger, despair, and helplessness, it takes an enormous amount of energy to hold those feelings down and get through each day, leaving you drained and unfocused. Trauma therapy can make all that disappear and allow you to reset and refresh your mind.

When that happens, the transformation in your life will be phenomenal. You’ll regain all that energy to do the things you love.

Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT) – An Approach That Empowers

Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT) is a specialized approach designed to treat trauma, PTSD, and sexual abuse. Backed by neuroscience research on Memory Reconsolidation, RRT utilizes the brain’s astounding ability to heal itself. This healing is achieved by releasing the emotional pain so it will no longer play a part in your day-to-day life.

I am a trauma-informed, certified Rapid Resolution Therapist. As we work together, you will feel safe, relaxed, and supported.

In RRT sessions, I use stories, symbolic imagery, and metaphors to facilitate healing. This gentle method doesn’t require you to relive painful memories and is based on the proven steps of Memory Reconsolidation for lasting results.

  • First Session – 2 to 2.5 hours: I will lead you through the process; your only task is to be present and follow along.

  • Second Session – ~1.5 hours (if needed): We will talk about the changes you've experienced since your first session to ensure that the emotions once connected to the traumatic event are no longer affecting you or triggering a response. If any new issues have surfaced, we will clear them at that time or schedule another session if needed.

Rapid Resolution Therapy empowers you so that your wisdom, logic, energy, humor, passion, and joyfulness can once again be part of your world. You have decided to take the brave step to move forward from trauma and together we will move through this and clear it out.

You May Be Considering Trauma Treatment But Still Have Concerns…

  • The number of sessions you require depends on the issues you would like to address. Some find resolution in just a few sessions, while others may need more. Regardless, each session brings relief, lightness, and noticeable improvement. My clients often tell me of the peace and calm they experience, even after just one session.

  • You might worry that healing from trauma will be too painful or overwhelming, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. RRT is gentle and refreshing. It was designed specifically for those who have experienced trauma and reliving it is not part of the process.

I’ll be with you every step of the way, guiding and supporting you as we move through this journey together!

  • Hypervigilance, constant irritability, and the inability to focus can make it hard to connect with others. Rapid Resolution Therapy helps clear your mind and bring peace, freeing you from past disturbances. You'll be able to relax, stay present, and fully engage in your relationships—whether with friends, family, or romantic partners.
