Welcome to the 21st Century & Brief Therapy that is Effective & Enduring

If you have ever considered therapy for any reason and decided not to do it because:

  • Therapy takes too much time and your not sure you’ll see results

  • Therapy costs too much

  • You don’t want to go to counseling once a week for months on end

  • You just don’t want to talk about painful issues again and again

  • You don’t want to learn coping skills that take time and energy and are forgotten in a month

  • You just want to, “Forget about it.”

Rapid Resolution Therapy/Memory Reconsolidation

You should know that Rapid Resolution Therapy isn’t work. It’s easy.

  • Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT) is brief therapy and takes place in 2 to 6 sessions

  • You won’t have to dwell on things or talk about them in detail

  • RRT follows the steps of Memory Reconsolidation which is backed by recent neuroscience & found to be effective and lasting

What Issues Can Be Treated with Rapid Resolution Therapy?

Although Rapid Resolution Therapy was designed for survivors of sexual trauma and war veterans, RRT is used to clear big T and little t trauma.

Here are just a few examples:

  • Adults who are survivors of childhood abuse

  • Adults who experienced sexual trauma (as a child or as an adult)

  • Adults who have survived domestic violence

  • Physical/verbal abuse

  • Car accident

  • Traumatic event

  • Witness to a traumatic event

  • Traumatic grief & loss

  • Traumatic relationship break up

  • Natural disasters

  • Anxiety disorders

  • Phobias

  • Feelings of guilt and shame

  • Low self-esteem

  • Low self-worth / hating oneself

  • Flashbacks

  • Nightmares

  • Insomnia

  • Jealousy

  • Abandonment

  • Weight loss issues

  • PTSD

  • Panic attacks

  • Smoking Cessation

  • Weight Loss

  • Recovery from grief and loss

  • Anger problems

  • Social anxiety disorder

  • Compulsive behaviors

  • Depression

  • Self-harm and other self-destructive behaviors

  • Relationship loss/divorce

  • Overcoming heartbreak and rejection

  • Coping with the aftermath of an affair

  • Dealing with a serious medical condition or physical injury

  • Chronic pain

So What Exactly is Rapid Resolution Therapy?

Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT) combines the latest in neuroscience discoveries and therapy. Utilizing imagery and visualization. Your mind is powerful. Did you know that the human mind relates and responds quickly to stories? In fact, the mind has arranged our lives into a series of stories.

With the RRT process, I will speak to you about how the mind works. It’s interesting, it makes you think and it is effective.

In session, you will learn much about the human mind and emotions-in the form of interesting stories. And…..in the process you begin to understand what is happening with all those emotion, feelings, behaviors and why you have them. What is their purpose? It’s not important that you know all that-it’s just interesting. And without even noticing, you have begun to heal.

Effective & Enduring Healing

RRT is gentle and does not require reliving painful experiences or talking about them in detail to heal. In 2009, neuro- scientists had a pretty exciting discovery: Memory Re-consolidation. Trauma memories can be cleared once and forever. You still remember what happened, however emotional feelings no longer come up after RRT. Neuroscience research on Memory Re-consolidation also supports the effectiveness and enduring healing that takes place. RRT employs the steps of Memory Re-consolidation. Because of the research we now know: Traumatic memories do not have to cast a shadow on the rest of your life and the way you live it.

It’s common for a catastrophic event to evoke a stress response in the body which ignites a whole array of chemicals that prepare you for fight-or-flight. This is the body’s response to a threat. The ongoing emotional affect after a traumatic event can impact your life. However with RRT and Memory Reconsolidation treatment, the emotional impact can be cleared and return you to peaceful and calm.

How does Rapid Resolution Therapy Work?

Many times when you experience a disturbing event or traumatic experience, it replays in your mind at random times and may intrude on your present thoughts. Sometimes when elements (sounds-smells-sights) are similar to the event, they can trigger the very same feelings and emotions as though the event were happening right now, instead of in the past.

After experiencing a traumatic event it effects how you see the world moving forward. It’s like having a pair of yellow colored lens over your eyes. Everything you see is a bit yellower however you are not aware that it is having that effect.

Rapid Resolution Therapy clears the mind by hitting the “reset” button. Even though your conscious mind, your cognitive mind, knows it is no longer happening, RRT helps your emotional mind stop reading a threat, in similar instances because…….it’s just no longer happening.

You've heard the phrase "Neurons that fire together wire together."  The meaning of this phrase is:

Our brain cells communicate with one another via synaptic transmission–one brain cell releases a chemical (neurotransmitter) that the next brain cell absorbs.  This communication process is known as “neuronal firing.”  When brain cells communicate frequently, the connection between them strengthens.  Messages that travel the same pathway in the brain over & over begin to transmit faster & faster.  With enough repetition, they become automatic.

When something is traumatic we go over and over it in our minds and the neural messages keep going down the same neural pathway with the same thoughts and emotional response. With Rapid Resolution Therapy/Memory Reconsolidation we build a new neural pathway through visual imagery, story telling and creativity. Then, as you think about the incident, neurons use the new pathway which does not include the emotional reaction that formerly accompanied the thought. Thus, the emotional pain and reaction are no longer present and therefore you are no longer triggered by similar sights, smells, or sensations.

Although this sounds very difficult. It really is  very simple. Neuroscientists discovered, in 2009, that the human mind is powerful and has the ability to heal itself. As a Rapid Resolution Therapist, I will lead you through the process. I have helped many people with various problematic issues. My clients tell me of the peace, calm and clarity they experience after the RRT process.

Consider your computer; occasionally it needs the programs updated to stay current. There is nothing wrong with the computer, it just needs updating. RRT/Memory Reconsolidation updates the data for the benefit of the mind. Cognitively, you remember what happened-the event- however the emotional reaction will no longer accompany the memory. You will experience peace, calm and healing.

What Will my Rapid Resolution Therapy Session be Like?

Free 20 Minute Phone Consult

Many times truama and PTSD can cause problematic thoughts, behaviors, or emotions that often show up as somatic problems, migrains, stomach aches, anxiety or depression etc. We will discuss what you would like to address with Rapid Resolution Therapy. I will explain the Rapid Resolution Therapy process. Any questions you may have will be answered. You can determine at that time if you would like to schedule an intake session and/or Rapid Resolution Therapy.

Intake- We begin with an intake session. We will cover confidentiality, HIPAA and disclosure information, as required by DORA, the Colorado State Regulatory Board. More importantly, I learn about you. What is it that brings you joy? What would you like to do with your life? As the expert of your life, you will tell me what it is that you believe would be good to clear. You will always remember the events cognitively but after RRT you will be cleared of the emotional triggers that formerly took place. Intake can take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours, depending upon what you would like to discuss and is billed according to time used.

1st RRT Session - 2 to 2.5 hours

I will lead you through the Rapid Resolution process. All you have to do is be present and follow along. I will use stories, symbolic imagery and metaphors.  It's not painful. It doesn't hurt. You may even laugh. My clients have told me that they loved that RRT is so different, not like any other therapy they’ve done, much lighter, easier and interesting. Imagine going on a canoe trip with me. You are in the front of the canoe pointing out the dangers. I am in the back of the canoe, rowing. I really know where we are going. We are going to clear out those things that trouble you as your mind heals. Your mind is powerful and can heal those things ever so easily.

Many of my clients have told me that at the end of the Rapid Resolution Therapy session they feel so calm, peaceful and relaxed. You may notice a shift immediately or it may take a few hours or days to notice the positive shift.

Check In- (1 week after RRT session)

Check in- is a phone call. I check in with you and ask how your doing and what you have noticed-since our RRT session that is different. Sometimes one session is all you need. Other times more sessions are needed because there are other problematic issues that we have not had time to address. Together we review the change and the positive improvement you have noticed in your feelings, thoughts, and emotions. Additionally we will check to see if other issues have arisen since the first session. At this time, you let me know where you are and how you’re feeling: If we have accomplished what we set out to accomplish or if there is something else you wish to address.

2nd Session- 1.5 hours (if needed)

Many people can resolve troubling thoughts, feelings and behaviors caused by trauma or PTSD, in the first session. Other people have lived an eventful life and require several more sessions. Rapid Resolution Therapy is considered a brief therapy and takes place in 2 to 6 sessions. The number of sessions largely depends on you, your experiences and what you would like to address.

How Does Science Support RRT?

Check it out. Here is the article that talks about Memory Reconsolidation (the steps we follow in session).

https://www.coherencetherapy.org/files/Ecker-etal-NPT2013April-Primer.pdf

RRT follows the steps of Memory Reconsolidation.

1st- Reactivate target knowledge- Bring the event to mind (briefly- I don’t want you to relive the event)

2nd-Mismatch-Juxtaposition-create an experience that is significantly different.

3rd-Revise via new learning, create a new learning experience that contradicts the original learning.

Where Can I Find More Information on Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT)?
